Caitlin Clark’s Kobe 5 ‘Protro’ PE shoe drops Monday
Nike is releasing Clark’s latest player-exclusive shoes to the public in limited quantities — and they won’t last long. Set your alarm for Monday morning.
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has been in the WNBA for more than a year, and her millions of fans around the world are still eagerly awaiting her first signature shoe.
In the meantime, Clark continues to wear Kobe 5s and 6s on the court — and Nike Basketball frequently outfits her with player-exclusive (PE) colorways.
Her latest pair, however, won’t remain exclusive for long.
Nike is releasing Clark’s Kobe 5 “Protro” PE — featuring a navy, red, and gold color scheme — for a limited time on the SNKRS app at 10 a.m. ET on Monday, June 30.
They’ll retail for $190 — and as with most high-profile drops, they’re expected to sell out within minutes.
“I'm a Kobe person,” Clark said last season. “Everybody knows that. It’s the best shoe. It's not even close. I probably like the Kobe 6s the best, which are the ones I have on right now. I like the 5s as well, but the 6s are kind of my thing.
“So, obviously, just to wear his shoe and obviously what (his wife) Vanessa has done and their family has done. And continuing his legacy, not only obviously within his shoe, but just that whole foundation and just the Kobe brand is pretty incredible. So, I feel very lucky and fortunate to not only represent Nike, but also their entire family.”
As for that signature shoe…
“Nike's been a tremendous partner and was a partner of mine through college,” she said. “And deciding what I wanted to do professionally — that's just the brand that I always wore as a kid. So being able to be with them is a dream and something I don't take lightly.
“And I'm not giving any teasers (for a signature shoe), though. Like, I don't do that. So, wait and see.”
