Caitlin Clark records 10 assists, Fever trio helps Team WNBA knock off Team USA
Caitlin Clark nearly sets assist record, chemistry was obvious with Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell was a bucket getter. Arike Ogunbowale led all with an All-Star game record 34 points.
PHOENIX — Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever teammates are ready for the Olympic break. They made that abundantly clear.
Like students reaching winter break times 10.
As she entered the postgame interview room, Clark shouted out for everybody to hear: “I’m on vacation!”
Then about eight minutes later, after answering the final question, she said, “All right everybody, have a nice month!”
A short while later outside the locker room, Fever center Aliyah Boston said with a smile “I am very excited. I will be resting.”
Just 40 minutes earlier, that Fever duo with Kelsey Mitchell celebrated victory on the court as Team WNBA disposed of the Olympic Team 117-109. Basketball legend Cheryl Miller coached Team WNBA and was in it to win it. And so was her team. From the first timeout on, her timeouts were intense like it was a playoff game.
“I found out that the team I’m coaching wants to beat the breaks off our Olympic Team,” Miller said on Friday. “I’m like, ‘OK, then pressure’s on. Now we got a game, folks.’”
