Mad Ants assistant coach accepts job elsewhere
Devan Blair was with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for the 2021-22 season.
Devan Blair will not be back with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the G League team owned by the Indiana Pacers. He has accepted a job elsewhere.
Blair spent this past season as an assistant coach and head video coordinator on Tom Hankins’ Mad Ants staff. And it was a very unusual season for the team as rosters were unstable because many players were called up to the NBA, especially after the omicron variant of COVID-19 hit rosters in late December.
On top of that, the Pacers were hit with numerous injuries that led to them playing their two-way guys often — undrafted rookies Duane Washington Jr. and Terry Taylor.
Blair is joining the Westchester Knicks as an assistant coach for the 2022-23 season, league sources told Fieldhouse Files.
Blair attended Indiana University and was a manager for the men’s basketball team. His entryway into the NBA was with the Pacers as a basketball operations intern in 2014.
Before returning to the Pacers one year ago, he spent five seasons with the Houston Rockets organization.
As I reported last week, Dylan DeBusk is changing roles from Pacers head video coordinator to Mad Ants assistant coach.
Last offseason, Nick Fleder left the Pacers to work for his hometown team, the New York Knicks, as the manager of data science.
