Dru Anthrop joins Frank Vogel's Phoenix Suns coaching staff
Anthrop played at Purdue, then was an intern for the Pacers before moving on and working closely for Frank Vogel.
Dru Anthrop is on the move.
The Lafayette, Ind. native, former Purdue basketball player (2009-13) and Pacers intern (2013-15) is reuniting with Frank Vogel in Phoenix after Vogel was hired as Suns head coach earlier this moth.
Anthrop spent the past four seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers as head video coordinator and player development coach. He also worked for Vogel in Orlando and Indiana.
And because of his time in LA, Anthrop is used to working with superstars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Now he’ll work for the team with the newest owner in the league (Mat Ishbia) and has a top-heavy payroll with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and Bradley Beal.
In addition to Anthrop, Vogel’s coaching staff also includes Kevin Young, David Fizdale, Quinton Crawford, Miles Simon, Greg St. Jean, John Lucas III and Jon Pastorek.
From Orlando (with a pitstop in Memphis) to Los Angeles to now Phoenix or Scottsdale — he’s sure set up well. Who wouldn’t want to live there? He already earned a ring with LA.
And now he’s back with Frankie.
You can listen to my conversation with Anthrop on the Fieldhouse Files podcast from 2020 after the Lakers won the NBA championship in the Orlando bubble:
