The Fever captured the WNBA's midseason tournament title and $500,000 prize pool. Here’s how they reacted — and what they had to say — after the win.
MINNEAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever won the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup championship for the first time.
The league introduced the early-season championship back in 2021 and since then, there have been five different winners in five years.
The Fever won be holding the Lynx to 34.9% shooting, including 4-of-16 from range. They won by outscoring the Lynx 40-22 in the middle two quarters, taking the lead and growing it to double digits. They knocked off the Lynx by not being intimidating, but coming into Target Center confident that they could get it done.
And they did, even without Caitlin Clark. The Fever had five players in double figures, led by Natasha Howard’s 16 points, 12 rebounds, and great defensive job. She was voted championship game MVP.
