Fever clicking at the right time — and still getting better

Winners in seven of nine, the Fever are playing connected basketball, embracing roles, and showing there's still another level to reach. Plus, forward Chloe Bibby signs rest-of-season contract.

The Indiana Fever are finding their way. In what has been a roller coster of a season — going from championship aspirations to not everyone buying in and then several players injured — the Fever have won their last four games.

Most recently, a 88-78 win in Dallas Friday night in front of 17,857 at American Airlines Center.

Even more, they’ve been victorious in seven of their past nine games.

The only two losses? Both to the New York Liberty, the defending champions, on the road. And they were on either side of All-Star break that was anything but a break, especially with Indy being the host.

The Fever now four games above .500 for the first time in a decade, going back to 2015. That was Stephanie White’s first year as a WNBA head coach. That group reached in the finals, ultimately losing to the Minnesota Lynx.

They are now 16-12 with 16 regular-season games left. (The league is playing 44 games for the first time.) They are a half-game back from the Mercury, who haven’t looked good in their past two games.

Even more, despite a difficult start to the season, they are just 1.5 games back from the Liberty — who have dropped four in a row.

The door is open for the Fever. Finally, they are appear healthy enough, confident enough, and determined to take full advantage.
