Herb Simon to be celebrated at Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend
Herb Simon, the longest-tenured owner in the NBA, has a memorable weekend in store as he enters the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Sunday in Springfield, Mass.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. — It’s going to be a very special weekend for the Simon family.
Herb Simon, longtime owner of the Indiana Pacers, will be enshrined into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Sunday evening at Symphony Hall in Springfield, Mass.
I am here and will have full coverage from the events this weekend.
Ten months ago, Simon was on the list of as a first-time nominee — one of 30 named for the contributor category.
Then in February, as Indy hosted All-Star Weekend 2024, he was named one of 14 finalists.
Two months later, at the men’s Final Four in Phoenix, it was announced that Simon was part of the 13-member Class of 2024. An incredible honor for the longest-tenured NBA owner.
The others: Vince Carter, Chauncey Billups, Seimone Augustus, Bo Ryan, Doug Collins, Jerry West, Michael Cooper, Walter Davis, Charles Smith, Dick Barnett, Harley Redin and Michele Timms.
The Enshrinement Ceremony is being held later than usual. It was pushed back two months because of Paris Olympic games, in which Team USA won gold medals in both men's and women's basketball.
