'I miss it!': Caitlin Clark courtside for all three of Iowa's Big Ten Tournament games
She guided the Iowa Hawkeyes to back-to-back NCAA national title games. This past week, she welcomed her former coaches and teammates to Indy and watched them go 2-1 in the Big Ten Tournament.
In just a few months, the court will belong to her.
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark elected to remain in Indianapolis after his rookie season. She did not go overseas, she passed on playing in Unrivaled, the upstart 3x3 league in Miami, and she declined an invite to compete in a shooting contest at NBA All-Star Weekend.
This offseason? It’s all about her.
Clark, who at this time was preparing to help lead the University of Iowa back to the national championship game, was able to see her Hawkeyes on her court at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
It’s been a pleasant reunion for Clark seeing her head coach Lisa Bluder serve as a guest analyst on Big Ten Network’s studio coverage. And she was courtside for all three of the Hawkeyes games in the Big Ten Tournament.
“They play basketball the right way and that's why people love supporting them and coming to their games, so that's why I'm here,” Clark said during an interview on BTN.
“I love it. I love getting to see some of my best friends play basketball and have a lot of fun doing it.”
She saw them dominate Wisconsin in a 27-point win, dispose of Michigan State by 13, then come up short in a one-point loss to Ohio State. Three games in three consecutive games, which is highly unusual. They don’t even do that during the NCAA Tournament.
Here’s Clark at Iowa’s first game.
Clark pulled double duty on Wednesday, first attending Butler men’s basketball’s senior night against Xavier. Her boyfriend, Connor, is an assistant coach and his brother, Patrick, was on honored on senior night.
She then hurried back downtown and caught the end of Iowa’s first win with Connor’s sister, Marit.
