Pedro Bradshaw makes game-winning free throws for Mad Ants in win over Skyhawks
Watch what Pedro Bradshaw, the third-year forward out of Bellarmine, had to say after he helped the Mad Ants record another victory.
The Indiana Mad Ants needed an extra session to defeat the College Park Skyhawks on Thursday afternoon, 131-124. Mad Ants forward Pedro Bradshaw was fouled on a 3-point attempt in the right corner, then made all three free throws to secure the win.
“Honestly, as soon as I got fouled and they said it was an unsuccessful challenge (by the Skyhawks), I was immediately thinking about the free throw I missed in regulation,” he said postgame. “So I was just like, ‘OK, I got to lock in and just shoot these one at a time.’ And I was able to get all three.”
It was the first game of a double-header at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with Pistons at Pacers to be played tonight.
It was also a battle between two of the top three teams in the Eastern Conference. The Mad Ants (13-8) outscored the Skyhawks 7-0 in overtime and a target score (to 131) was in effect.
“I think those Elam Endings are really exciting,” Bradshaw added. “I think it adds a lot more excitement to the game. It makes you lock in that much more, too, defensively, and it makes you more cognizant of the shots you take offensively so you can’t really have too many turnovers or mishaps. We had some really great defensive stops and we were able to go down and score and get some free throws.”
Pacers rookie forward Jarace Walker was not in uniform, but he sat courtside for the game to support his guys. Team executives Chad Buchanan, Kelly Krauskopf and Ted Wu were in attendance — one of the great advantages to the team playing in Indy.
The Mad Ants had a balanced attack with all nine players finishing with eight points or more. Kendall Brown led them with 25 points. Oscar Tshiebwe had 20 points and 16 rebounds. Isaiah Wong added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Bradshaw contributed 18 points (6-7 FGs, 5-6 FTs), five rebounds, three assists and two steals. And then he spoke with Fieldhouse Files about the win, returning from break and his season.
