Jalen Smith gets engaged over the weekend
He signed a three-year deal with the Pacers last month and now has another reason to celebrate.
Pacers forward Jalen Smith made his second commitment of the offseason.
Smith, 22, proposed to his girlfriend, Kayla, over the weekend and then celebrated with family and friends.
This comes one month after he bet on himself professionally and signed a three-year contract with the Pacers despite being an unrestricted free agent, able to sign elsewhere for a larger salary. But he chose the Pacers, head coach Rick Carlisle and the promised role of starting at power forward.
It looks like they were also celebrating Smith’s new deal at the event. There were two big blue and gold posters, one that said “Air Specs,” referring to the spectacles he wears during games. There was also a cake that looked like his No. 25 Pacers jersey, balloons in team colors and that said “CONGRATS.”
“Till The End of Time🤞🏾” he wrote in the Instagram post below.
You know what else is special? The top four comments on the page are from four of his Pacers teammates last season: Tyrese Haliburton, Isaiah Jackson, Terry Taylor and Lance Stephenson.
Based on a previous Instagram post of his now fiancé, it looks like they’ve been together for over six years.
Congrats to Jalen, Kayla and their families.
