Kam Jones returns from injury, prepares for NBA debut
Assigned to the Noblesville Boom for the G League Winter Showcase, Jones is set to log meaningful minutes after a rare injury delayed his rookie season. Plus, Pacers falter late again vs. New York.
ORLANDO — Good evening from the land of Disney.
I arrived Thursday morning for the annual G League Winter Showcase, which is as much about executives from all 30 NBA teams — and some overseas — getting a chance to see the entire league in person as it is about exchanging ideas and, at times, trade concepts.
Similar to NBA Summer League, it’s another convention for team stakeholders.
Shout-out to the couple I sat next to on the way down. The gentleman was wearing a crimson IU hat, so it turned into a quick two-hour flight discussing the football program and our excitement for the Rose Bowl in exactly two weeks.
Below, I’ll touch on the Pacers’ loss to the Knicks, their appreciation for the NBA Cup, and then catch you up on Kam Jones.
Jones, the Pacers’ top draft selection last June — a pick they acquired from the Spurs — has been sidelined since before training camp with a low-back stress reaction. He’s been ramping up for a return to live action over the last two weeks and is in Orlando this weekend to play in a pair of games with the Noblesville Boom.
