Liberty guard Darius McGhee to join Pacers for training camp
McGhee agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal, a standard training camp contract, after being with the Pacers at summer league.
Undrafted rookie guard Darius McGhee has agreed to join the Pacers for training camp in October on an Exhibit 10 deal, his college program announced.
McGhee is a 5-foot-9 guard that played five years of college basketball at Liberty University, where he averaged 22.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during his super senior season.
The Pacers already have all 18 roster spots filled — 15 core and three two-ways — but they are allowed to bring up to 21 players to camp. That’s one additional player now allowed by the new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
And an Exhibit 10 allows for the Mad Ants, the Pacers’ G League team, to have his rights if waived.
He was a scoring guard in college and many players in his position, averaging over 20 points per game, would have departed for a high-major program. But not McGhee, who is from Roxboro, N.C.
