The Pacers’ City Edition uniform by Nike has not officially been unveiled, but a Twitter user late last week shared a photo of the retail version.

Fieldhouse Files has confirmed that this will be their City Edition jersey, although the stitched on-court product is expected to look sharper.

They are scheduled to wear it seven times, beginning on Nov. 12 at home against the Toronto Raptors.

Just look at the replies to the tweet — and it’s all negative feedback. And for obvious reasons.

And here are a few more photos passed along to Fieldhouse Files:

The other thing I found interesting: Buddy Hield is No. 24. This leaked jersey is for a retail store, to be sold to customers. I wouldn’t expect his jersey to be the top five sold among Pacers players; Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin would be 1 and 2.

The Pacers usually reveal their annual new uniform in November. Last year, it was on Nov. 1.

The jersey design is a nod to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and the improvements made following $360 million in renovations that were made over the last three years. It’s a play on the structure of The Fieldhouse, like you can see in the photo below during construction.

And inside as well. You just have to look up inside the bowl.

Or above the Fever practice court.

Typically how this works is teams work with Nike, the official on-court apparel supplier of the NBA, on a design that suits the team and a storyline for the rest of the year. It’s a complicated process that involves several approval stages, including what it looks on the court and on television.

There’s no arguing this fact: Unlike many venues across the league, The Fieldhouse was designed for basketball and you feel it when you’re inside. There aren’t many bad seats and the renovations have helped modernize it.

It cost $183 million to build, replacing Market Square Arena, and first opened in Nov. 1999.

Also, this will be the fifth consecutive season that a Motorola patch has been on the front of the Pacers’ jerseys.

The team has had a City Edition uniform for the past five seasons, first launched in 2017. Below are the previous iterations.

Pacers officially unveiled their new City Edition uniforms — the return of pinstripes with a nod to teams of the past. fieldhousefiles.substack.com/p/pacers-new-c… Most interesting thing to me is the Motorola patch. It is back for a third season. (First worn Dec. 18, 2018.)

Admittedly, how this special edition jersey looks is a small thing in the grand scheme of things. Even so, they need to do better, especially given that we’re building something here with youth as the focus. These are just ghastly.

Lazy and terrible! I am so disappointed after seeing all of the awesome city and throwbacks other teams had (minus Utah!). Well, I guess I'll be getting a generic Hali or Benny Jersey this year. Went to the season opener and was disappointed that they were only offering the Blue Hali and Ben jerseys. No white or Gold like they wore during their home stretch. Feels lazy. Excited about the team, upset about the lack of options.
