Aaron Nesmith agrees to two-year extension with Pacers
The 26-year-old forward, one of the Pacers’ most reliable two-way players, is now under contract through the 2028-29 season.
The Pacers reached agreement with forward Aaron Nesmith on a two-year contract extension, Fieldhouse Files has learned.
Nesmith, 26, will now be under contract through the 2028-29 season — which also marks the final year of Tyrese Haliburton’s max contract.
The agreement comes just hours before the 11:59 p.m. ET deadline Monday for veteran contract extensions.
Nesmith is already under contract for two more seasons at $11 million per year, part of a three-year, $33 million extension he signed two years ago. That deal was a strong value for the Pacers, and Nesmith has emerged as one of the league’s best bargains — a reliable starter and dependable two-way player.
The new extension adds two years worth about $42 million, nearly doubling his annual salary.
Last season, Nesmith averaged 12 points per game on career-high shooting splits of 50.7% from the field, 43.1% from 3-point range and 91.3% at the foul line, while also adding four rebounds per game.
Since being acquired from Boston in 2022 in the Malcolm Brogdon trade, Nesmith has started the majority of games for the Pacers and established himself as a key part of their core.
The Pacers are coming off consecutive deep playoff runs, including an NBA Finals appearance that had them playing until June 22. The new deal provides Nesmith with long-term security and gives the Pacers additional salary-cap certainty as they continue to plan and adjust for future roster moves.
Earlier Monday, the Pacers did not reach a rookie-scale extension with guard Bennedict Mathurin, who will now become a restricted free agent after the 2025-26 season.
