Myles Turner, Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton on their feet at NBA summer league after rookie Jarace Walker impressed.

NBA training camps open next week and every team is looking for an edge. The majority of the Pacers’ roster has been back in Indianapolis and training at the St. Vincent Center throughout September.

Unlike the NFL, there aren’t offseason OTAs (organized team activities) in the NBA. That time is valuable to reunite during the offseason, get on the same page and run through plays (even without pads). For the young guys in the NBA, at least there’s the weeklong rookie/free-agent camp at the start of July leading up to NBA Summer League.

Before the Pacers hit the court on Oct. 3 for the start of camp, the players are doing some team bonding away from the team facility — and out of town.
