Pacers to hold auditions for public address announcing role
There may be a new voice inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The 2021-22 season is four weeks away.
The Pacers are opening up a search for their public address announcer position, Fieldhouse Files has learned. This will allow for the team to conduct a thorough search leading into the 2021-22 season.
That was not possible prior to last season due to multiple factors, starting with Tim Sinclair taking the Bulls’ PA gig just as training camp opened in December. Then, short on time, in the middle of a pandemic and with the NBA’s healthy & safety protocols changing frequently, it simply wasn’t feasible.
Shawn Sullivan, who is the PA announcer for the Fever and Indy Eleven, served as the voice inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse last season. It is a possibility that Sullivan continues in that role.
To complicate the start of this search is the fact that renovations are ongoing at The Fieldhouse. They will want access to the building — and to the microphone — to hold final auditions.
The first home game is set for Oct. 13, a home preseason game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
All interested candidates need to fill out this online form AND submit an audition video. (Note: You must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 10.)
