An ecosystem disrupted: Injuries leave Pacers without their starting five (and more)

All five Pacers starters are out against Atlanta as injuries continue to pile up. Plus, an ABA reunion, Caitlin Clark's new book and the opening of IU Indy's new arena.

Just one week ago, Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam were nominees for Eastern Conference Player of the Week following opening week of the 2026-27 season.

Now, one week later, the Pacers will be without their entire starting lineup for Monday’s home game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Haliburton is out for several weeks after suffering a mild hamstring strain, the fifth Pacer player diagnosed with a hamstring strain since training camp. Center Ivica Zubac sustained a left ankle sprain in Brooklyn, but should be back very soon.

The other three starters — Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, and Pascal Siakam — all played yesterday in a 98-90 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, who were the last remaining winless team in the Eastern Conference. It was an ugly game on Sunday. Nothing went well.

But each of those three players is dealing with something: neck soreness (Nembhard), hamstring strain (Nesmith), and having to shoulder a heavy load (Siakam).
