Pacers fans collectively held their breath as the face of the franchise went down with an injury Monday night against the Boston Celtics.

Tyrese Haliburton drove toward the basket, down the left lane line to attack Derrick White, when he lost his footing and did the splits. He immediately grimaced in pain, then reached for his left thigh area.

Eventually, Haliburton needed help off the court with 3:10 left in the first half.

Teammates Buddy Hield and James Johnson carried him off and directly back to the locker room. And on his way off the court, T.J. McConnell placed another towel over Haliburton’s face to keep his expressions and pain from cameras and fans. A thoughtful move by his teammate.

Then at halftime, as the Pacers trailed 68-59, the team announced that Haliburton sustained a left hamstring injury and was out for the reminder of the game.
