Mike Weinar moving on from Pacers coaching staff

The Pacers announced Weinar’s departure Friday afternoon. His exit marks a rare change for a franchise that has maintained strong continuity with both its roster and coaching staff.

Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle is losing one of his longtime assistants.

Assistant coach Mike Weinar and the Pacers “mutually agreed to part ways,” the team announced on Friday afternoon. It is surprising for a number of reasons, including:

• His longevity with Carlisle

• His value and impact on the team

• His comfort in Indy and the amount of family nearby.

Weinar was integral in game-planning, offense, situations, and end-of-game scenarios.
