Pacers' new City Edition uniforms are a fresh twist on previous eras
A nod to Flo-Jos, pinstripes and the post-Reggie days.
More than half of the league has released a new uniform for the upcoming 2020-21 season, but not the Pacers. The Celtics’ white jersey resembles their championship banners, the Nets brought back a tie-dye design and the 76ers added a black jersey to their options.
On Saturday, an image of a new Pacers jersey surfaced on Twitter — which I confirmed with multiple team sources — and it has been universally praised. It will be their Nike City Edition uniform for the next season, a nod to uniforms of the past.
First, it’s a lighter blue than the navy that is part of their current color palette.
The pinstripes from the ‘90s are back, the letters are from the ‘00s, the numbers match their current uniforms, and the stripes on the side play off the popular Flo-Jos.
Last year’s City Edition uniforms were white with a blue checkered stripe down one side. And they were scheduled to wear them for 15 games.
Here’s a look at the previous three seasons, each with a racing theme.
