The Fever kept the Aces to 78 points, but lost. It’s their first time this season losing when holding opponents to 84 points or below.
The Aces, who’ve won back-to-back WNBA championships, were the only team the Fever failed to beat this season.
Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 20 points, and she scored 19 of them in the first half.
Caitlin Clark scored all of her 18 points in the second half.
Clark also dished out nine assists and in the process, became the single-season assist leader (317) in just her rookie season.
Chelsea Gray led the Aces with 21 points and six assists, and A’ja Wilson added 15 points and 17 rebounds.
The Fever were kept to 13 points in the first quarter, but made their push in the third. They trailed by three points entering the final period and were within three late.
Damiris Dantas contributed 11 points in 16 minutes off the bench. And once again, the Fever struggled from beyond the arc (30.4%).
