Members of Indianapolis’ professional sports teams came together for a great cause Monday night.
Under the lights at Victory Field, members of the Pacers, Fever, Boom, Colts, Ignite, and more competed in a six-inning charity softball challenge to raise money for the Pacers Foundation.
It revived one of the great summer traditions in Indy for more than a decade — but it had faded away after the 2018 game.
Pacers All-NBA guard Tyrese Haliburton was determined to bring it back.
So he did.
He captained one team, and Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, who is also coming off a torn Achilles (and his surgery was performed by the same doctor), captained the other. The fact that the Colts, including their top player, were willing to not just show up but participate, while less than two weeks from the start of their season, is admirable.
Pat McAfee emceed the event, along with B-Swfit.
Team Haliburton earned the 28-8 victory in front of more than 9,000 fans in the stands of the Triple-A ballpark, home of the Indianapolis Indians.
