Sources: Mad Ants' Trevelin Queen, Gabe York selected for G League Next Up Game at NBA All-Star Weekend
The Pacers continue to add representatives for NBA All-Star Weekend this month in Salt Lake City. Queen and York will play in a game featuring 24 G League players.
Two members of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the Indiana Pacers’ G League affiliate, have been selected to play in the G League Next Up Game at NBA All-Star Weekend 2023 in Salt Lake City later this month.
Pacers two-way guard Trevelin Queen and guard Gabe York were chosen by the NBA G League to participate, league sources told Fieldhouse Files.
An official announcement will be made next week.
The game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 3:00 p.m. ET at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Then later that night, the NBA All-Star game will be held at Vivint Arena, home of the Utah Jazz. Tyrese Haliburton will represent the Pacers in that game.
Queen, the 2022 G League MVP, signed a two-way deal with the Pacers in October. He's averaging 22.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game with the Mad Ants this season. And in Saturday’s win over the Capital City Go-Go, he scored 21 points.
York is a three-time G League Player of the Week this season. He's a sharpshooter averaging 24.1 points per game and shooting 40% from range this season.
There will be 24 G League players involved in all. The G League voted for 14 players, and a fan vote determined the other 10 — which has already been announced.
With these two additions, the Pacers will now have representatives in all the major events at All-Star Weekend. Six players in all.
Friday: Rookies Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard are participants in the Rising Stars games.
Saturday: Buddy Hield is expected to compete in the 3-point contest, according to league sources.
