Sydney Colson brings championship experience and big ambitions to Indiana Fever | VIDEO
Texas native Sydney Colson, a college and WNBA champion, is thrilled to join 'the most talked about team in sports' — the Indiana Fever.
On just her second day in Indianapolis, Indiana Fever free-agent signing Sydney Colson met with local reporters Tuesday inside the entry pavilion of Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
But first, the 35-year-old guard wasted no time immersing herself in the city's basketball scene, sitting courtside for the Pacers’ win over the Minnesota Timberwolves Monday night.
Colson revealed that Indiana was her top choice from the start of free agency, eager to join the “it” team in the WNBA. Her connection to Indianapolis even goes back to 2011 when she won a national championship with Texas A&M in this very building, then known as Conseco Fieldhouse. Adding another layer of familiarity, Fever team president Kelly Krauskopf is also a proud Texas A&M alum.
Colson arrives with a championship pedigree after spending the past three seasons with the Las Vegas Aces, where she contributed to their back-to-back WNBA title runs in 2022 and 2023. She also has ties to Indiana's coaching community, having played under former Pacers and Mad Ants assistant coach Tyler Marsh in Las Vegas.
He was hired this offseason as the head coach of the Chicago Sky, who the Fever face on opening day: Saturday, May 17 on ABC.

She has previously played for the Liberty, Lynx, Aces, and Sky.
Now, she’s focused on helping the Fever take the next step. Colson, who is expected to play reserve guard minutes, reiterated how this team has a championship in mind. That’s the focus.
“I'm bringing veteran leadership, knowledge, energy, swinging the defensive momentum,” she said. “And just being that person that's dependable. I’m gonna always come in and do my job, and I'm gonna be happy in my role. I'll thrive whether it's eight minutes, if it's 15 minutes, if it's two minutes. I'm gonna play hard, I'm gonna get everybody involved, and I wanna win ultimately.”
Afterward, we also heard from general manager Amber Cox on Colson, their active offseason, and how they’ll spend the final month before training camp opens on April 27.
