In the final month of the season, the Pacers went up to Toronto and left with both a win and a piece of history.

Head coach Rick Carlisle started three Canadians — rookies Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Newmbard, and Osahe Brissett — against The Team in Canada. A first in league history. Carlisle called it “a historic night for Canada basketball.”

In all, they combined for 49 of the team’s 118 points (41.5%) and all played at least 24 minutes.

Coming later this summer, there’s a big opportunity for the Canadian senior men’s national team at the FIBA World Cup. Games in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia will be played from Aug. 25 through Sept. 10, finishing just a few weeks before NBA training camps open.
