IU forward Trayce Jackson-Davis receives NBA Draft Combine invite
The annual combine will be held May 16-22, include testing and interviews with teams. Then, he'll have pre-draft workouts before making his decision whether to return to IU by June 1.
Indiana University forward Trayce Jackson-Davis has received an invitation to participate in the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, a league source confirmed to Fieldhouse Files.
The annual combine will be held in Chicago May 16-22. It is an opportunity for players to meet with teams in a one-on-one setting, go through extensive testing, as well as play in the scrimmage (if they elect to do so).
The full list of participants is expected to be released this week. Jeff Rabjohns of Peegs.com first reported that an invite had been extended to Jackson-Davis.
This is valuable time for all prospects, especially Jackson-Davis, who can use this time to impress scouts and team executives. Pre-draft workouts with teams that follow the combine figure to be more beneficial for him. It is there, in a smaller yet competitive setting, where Jackson-Davis could set himself apart and move up team’s draft boards.
Right now, several evaluators I’ve spoken with grade him as a second-round selection — which does not come with a guaranteed contract like it does for first-round picks.
Jackson-Davis is a 6-foot-9 forward. He came out of Center Grove High School in 2019 as Indiana's Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American.
He is the son of former Pacers bulldozer Dale Davis, who was selected 13th overall by the team in 1991. He played 10 seasons (and 781 games) with the Pacers and averaged 9.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
June 1 is an important date. It is the NCAA’s deadline for players to withdraw from the draft in order to continue playing.
Playing in all 35 games last season for IU, Jackson-Davis averaged 18.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. He had an impactful finish to the season, leading them in scoring of the final five games.
Before the 2021-22 college season, Jackson-Davis signed with Excel Sports Management for representation off the court. He is currently training out in Los Angeles with several other prospects after announcing on April 9th that he was declaring for the draft while maintaining his college eligibility.
