Why Caitlin Clark, Sabrina Ionescu passed on 3-point Contest at All-Star Weekend

PHOENIX — It’s the showcase that would’ve made All-Star Friday night for the WNBA a hit. Footprint Center would’ve been sold out. ESPN’s ratings probably would’ve doubled — if not more.

Instead, it was not a sellout and the get-in price on the secondary market was about $24.
It seemed odd that Clark was not involved, especially after she couldn’t hide a smile when asked about her possible participation twice over the last few weeks.
“It remains to be seen,” she said on July 5th. “We’ll see. Haven’t decided. I don’t know. I can’t give you every answer today.”
Ultimately, neither Clark nor Ionescu were among the five players to accept invitations.
