Fever exercise fourth-year option on Aliyah Boston’s rookie contract
A procedural move confirms the Indiana Fever’s long-term commitment to their 2023 No. 1 pick, a foundational piece of the franchise. She's under contract through the 2026 season.

Ten days before the start of training camp, the Indiana Fever made a necessary procedural move that was as simple as it gets.
The Fever exercised the fourth-year team option on Aliyah Boston’s rookie-scale contract. This move keeps the All-Star center under contract through the 2026 WNBA season.
The move was announced by the team on Friday, but it was completed on Thursday — per the WNBA’s transaction log.
Boston, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, made an immediate impact in her debut season — earning Rookie of the Year honors and becoming just the eighth rookie in league history to be named an All-Star starter (and the first since Shoni Schimmel 2014).
Boston, a 6-foot-5 center out of the University of South Carolina, has played and started in all 80 games since she was drafted by the Fever.
Last season, the two-time All-Star averaged 14.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game in helping the Fever return to postseason competition for the first time since 2016 — when Tamika Catchings was the face of the franchise.
Her poise, consistency, and leadership quickly made her a foundational piece of the franchise’s rebuild — along with Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark, both of whom were also draft selections.
Exercising the fourth-year option is a standard move for top picks still on their rookie deals. Of course, the Fever were going to do so.
Boston, 23, spent the offseason serving as a women’s college basketball studio analyst, along with playing in the inaugural season of Unrivaled down in Miami.
