Dates set for Pacers-Cavaliers Round 2
Indiana advances to the Eastern Conference Semifinals and will face Cleveland in a best-of-seven series beginning May 4.
The Indiana Pacers are moving on.
After eliminating the Milwaukee Bucks in five games, the Pacers now face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Cavaliers (64-18), meanwhile, completed a first-round sweep of the Miami Heat to punch their ticket to Round 2.
This is the second consecutive year for Indiana to reach the second round, and it sets up a showdown with another Central Division foe — with a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line.
Game 1 is set for Sunday, May 4 in Cleveland.
Because the Houston Rockets forced a Game 7 against the Golden State Warriors, Pacers-Cavs will air at 6 p.m. ET.
The game will air on TNT. (Note: Local TV is done for the rest of the playoffs, so there will no longer be any blackout restrictions.)
And so … Pacers and Fever fans can enjoy a Sunday double-header.
At 4 p.m. ET, the Fever will play a preseason game at the University of Iowa for Caitlin Clark that will be air on ESPN — including an hourlong pregame show.
Here’s the full schedule for the best-of-seven series:
*If necessary
All-Star guard Darius Garland sat out Games 3 and 4 last season due to a sprained left big toe. First-year head coach Kenny Atkinson said Garland is day-to-day.
The Pacers won the regular-season series 3–1, including two wins in the final three regular-season games. However, the Cavs had already clinched the top spot in the East and chose to rest players. So those meetings aren’t representative of what’s to come.
Now, the stakes are much higher — and a trip to the conference finals is up for grabs.
