Pacers Notebook: Pre-draft workouts picking up
The 2024 NBA Draft is two weeks away. Plus: the passing of Jerry West, Tyrese Haliburton returns to Indy, commissioners weigh in on Caitlin Clark, and Indiana Fever begin key stretch.
The Pacers do not own a pick in the first round, but they do have three selections in the second round. So on Wednesday, exactly two weeks before draft night in Brooklyn, workouts continued at the Ascension St. Vincent Center.
Today’s bunch: Yongxi Cui (China), Thijs De Ridder (Belgium), Jack Gohlke (Oakland), Emanuel Miller (TCU), Ajay Mitchell (UCSB), and Tyson Walker (Michigan State).
Larry Bird is a consultant for the team and was seen at this workout session.
A few weeks ago in Terre Haute, Bird praised the team for their postseason run and where they’re headed.
“They got an upcoming team,” he said. “Kevin (Pritchard) made a great trade mid-season to bolster his front line [acquiring Pascal Siakam]. I think they got a very good opportunity to keep moving on and doing very well.
“That team with Halliburton and all the other guys, they play well together. And when the ball's moving, they win. And if they guard a little bit, they win. Sometimes they don't guard enough. But they're a very good team. And they're only going to grow together and get better.”
