Pacers update status of Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring) — and what they must do if he can't play
Haliburton is listed as questionable for Game 3 due to soreness to the left hamstring that caused him to miss 10 games in January. The Pacers are trailing 0-2 in the series as it moves to Indy.
The Indiana Pacers played the final 15:44 of Game 2 without Tyrese Haliburton.
The starting point guard and face of the franchise was subbed out late in the third quarter, replaced by Pascal Siakam when down by 11 points, and he watched the rest of the quarter from the bench.
Haliburton re-aggravated a left hamstring injury that he suffered back on Jan. 8 against these same Celtics. He went to the locker room at the end of the third (with the Celtics ahead by 13) and did not appear to return to the court, instead staying in the back — presumably with associate head athletic trainer Carl Eaton.
The Pacers returned to Indianapolis around 3 a.m. Friday and then had the day off from practice, though it was big treatment day for players in the rotation. They had just played their fourth game in seven days — and the first two were must-wins against the New York Knicks to keep their season alive.
As the Eastern Conference Finals shifts to Indy, with Game 3 on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET (on ABC) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Haliburton’s status is the biggest question.
