Where Pacers' Bennedict Mathurin and Tyrese Haliburton finished in ROY, MIP voting
Neither finished in the top three, but the two core Pacers received well-earned recognition for their seasons.
I wrote about two weeks ago how the Pacers (35-47) shut out of the seven annual end-of-season awards. However, we now know exactly what the results look like since the NBA has been announcing the winners before various first-round playoff games.
That’s an improvement from how the league experimented with an award show at the end of June, well after the entire season had concluded. By then, you forget the finalists, performances and have already started to look ahead to the next season.
The biggest surprise to the Pacers was that Bennedict Mathurin, taken sixth overall last June, was not among the three finalists for Rookie of the Year after seemingly being in the top two until the final month of the season.
