Pacers All-Star Pascal Siakam to drive pace car at Brickyard 400
The Pacers forward will lead the NASCAR field in a 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.
Indiana Pacers forward Pascal Siakam has been selected as the pace car driver for the upcoming Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
One month after the Pacers’ Game 7 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals, Siakam will lead the NASCAR field around the 2.5-mile oval and across the yard of bricks to start the 160-lap race.
The race begins around 2 p.m. ET on Sunday and will air nationally on TNT. Kyle Larson is the defending champion.
“Basketball and motorsports – Pacers and racers – go hand in hand in Indianapolis,” said Doug Boles, president of IndyCar and IMS. “Following the Pacers’ electrifying postseason run, it’s only fitting to have Pascal join us to pace the field as NASCAR’s biggest stars compete to win the In-Season Challenge and add their name to the history books with a win at the Brickyard.”
Siakam will drive a 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS — a 615-horsepower electric vehicle that’s the quickest model ever produced by Chevy.
Siakam recently completed his first full season in Indianapolis, and his midseason acquisition (in 2024) proved significant as the Pacers reached the Eastern Conference Finals and then the NBA Finals in consecutive years.
He also hosted a players-only minicamp last fall before training camp began and he quickly emerged as a respected voice on the team — bringing championship experience as both a G League and NBA champion.
In 2023, Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton drove the pace car for the Indianapolis 500.
Siakam was most recently seen in Las Vegas supporting the Summer Pacers at NBA Summer League.
